I was wondering if anyone had tried sheets of cleer adhere for screen protection. Does it work well? Is it hard to get off once a sheet of it becomes scratched?

I don't recommend putting anything sticky on the screen. I went to Office Max and purchased a pack of 4" x 6" vinyl document protectors, cut to size (can make 2 out of one sheet), slid it under the edges and it works like a charm. Cost me about $4 dollars!! Thought the vinyl might interfere with writting but it doesn't seem to affect it, at least not to me!!

someone had mentioned that they got some "decals" at staples and used that for protecting their screens. does anyone have any information on what i'm talking about?

i've tried some laminating paper but it made the screen too blurry (maybe they were the blurry kind), but either way i didn't like it. i've also tried sheet protectors but i don't like the idea of having to fit them under the case edges. i haven't tried the vinyl but i just don't like the idea of using oil/soap/water/etc. to adhere the vinyl to the screen.

so my only option left, and the only one that i do like, is the decal thingies. whoever mentioned it said it uses static (like those protectors on watches, clocks, stereos, etc.....you know, the one that what's-his-name thinks he invented, but that's an entirely different story).

know of any clear decal thingies? anybody? bueller? anyone?

with laminating paper were you able to get it off the screen successfully???

My Visor has a plastic insert over the glass screen, is the plastic screen the one everyone is scratching up and trying to protect?

How tough is that piece to replace if scratched up? I haven't noticed too much scratching at this point, just mainly in the Graffiti area...

its probably a pain to get off the plastic if noones done it

i read somewhere here that the "plastic" on the screen is part of the touch-screen. the touch-screen consists of two layers of resistive plastic that is "stretched" across the screen by the frame. this stretching creates a gap which, when pressed on by the stylus, makes some sort of contact that allows the pda to know where the user is writing.

that isn't the most scientific explaination, but i hope it helps. sorry to whomever i paraphrased for butching their words.

You want to go to an auto store and get Meguiar's Mirror Glaze #17 Cleaner and #10 Polish. They are designed for polishing plastic and work great on CDs, my Timex data watch plastic crystal, Visor screen.

Toothpaste?! it doesnt smear up the screen or anything? sounds pretty weird...

Yeah toothpaste is a little weird, and it does blur the screen while your buffing, but just like a wax, you buff it out and wipe it off.

And besides, its leaves your Visor minty fresh.

Well, despite the boycott (I bought a bunch of 'unnamed screen protectors : hereafter denoted as USP' long b4 the hubbub), I've been happily using the same USP for several months now...

While dusting my office, I picked up my Visor to move it and saw that the USP was kinda grungy looking. So, I decided to just try hitting it with a little furniture polish (Favor to be exact) on a soft terry cloth. Well, the effect was quite surprising. Most of the scratches on the USP cleared up and the texture itself seemed to change. It didn't have as much of the 'pebbled' feel of a new USP. Writing on it felt a LOT slicker, somewhere between the texture of a new USP and the screen itself.

Try it. You've got nothing to lose (except maybe a worn USP)

I would be careful about buying from him. Look at the topic in "Off Topic" about a better screen protector(If you haven't already).
