My stowaway sort of bows at the middle hinge. It pops up off of the table slightly and bounces a bit when I type.

Is this normal or is mine a bad unit?

How much does it bounce? Mine's bowed by abouth 1/16th" but doesn't bother me when I type. If it's more, I'd probably contact the company.

I've got the same bow/bounce problem with mine, and the same question. It's annyoing.

I opened mine tonight on a glass table top. It felt pretty solid, but I didn't have the Visor attached.

I'll let you know the next time I use it.

I've got the same trouble with mine. It's borderline annoying. My solution (short of returning the thing) is to take the cover for my Visor and put it under the right side of the keyboard. Seems to take the bounce out of the middle part of the keyboard. It ain't perfect, but, it'll do...

Can we hear from some someone who's Stowaway DOESN'T do this?

I'd like to know whether this is the norm.

Hi. Mine. Sits flat, not bounce whatsoever. Although, I think it DID bounce a little initially, when it was first purchased. Not anymore, though.

My Stowaway doesn't bounce either. It might a little bit, but I've never noticed it. It always is a stable platform for me.

Had mine for a week or so now--no bounce anymore. I think the previous poster is right--seems to get better with use.

Depending on the weight put on the cradle, the keyboard may bow upwards. I didn't have any trouble with just my Visor in place, but if I have an oversized Springboard such as a Minstrel S modem, the combined weight tends to want to leverage up the middle section and create a bouncy environment. I can lean the back of the Visor against another object though and keep this from happening.

Leverage is an amazing thing. Perhaps if I weighed down the keyboard with lead....

Hmmm... maybe it's only some Stowaways? I've had mine about a week, and never had a problem.

Annoying Bend

Hi there,
Just got my stowaway also. The first one I got was very solid, no bend at all, but it I either a display one or it was used, cause one of the buttons was messed up, and the aint on the delete button was half gone. So I returned it and got a brand spanking new one, and notice that there was the annoying bend in the middle everyone was talking about. So I called targus and they said that if it was that annoying, I should go and return it. I did this, and got another one, with the same bend in the middle, but to a lesser degree form the one previously returned. So hopefully after some use it will straighten itself out. It felt much better when it was stable. Keep on typing and hopefully it'll get better.

The Handspring Wireline 33.6 Modem Springboard Module is cheap at Amazon.com... Will this model be discontinued soon? Has anyone tried to go online using it with a Stowaway keyboard? The modem looks as if it would cause the Visor and keyboard to fall over backwards. Topheavy. OTOH, the big advantage is that the Hayes-compatible modem uses its own batteries.
