also, I second the "stronger beam" function addition to the six pack.

although I definately want the additional options of linking to my phone, I probably would not have to do it terribly often. I _could_ do without it if need be or if other easier mods were down the line (i.e. two way pager, cell phone, wireless modems).

On the other hand, if the mod boosted the beam, it would be an immediate must have for myself and a lot of the "i _could_ get by without it" six-pack wafflers.

Hey, Gregg, you are missing a trick here: if your phone has a modem builtin already, like the timeports do, then you DON'T NEED the sixpack to use it - you DO need a bit of software called IrLink from IS/complete (www.iscomplete.org) that lets you map your modem comms to IR and you are set - no cables, nothing!!

P.S. I have not personally tried this, but there is no reason why it should not work.

It is my understanding that all of the dual-mode CDMA StarTac's have a soft modem built-in that responds to the Hayes command set. My phone shipped with a serial cable for use with a PC. As I am dying to use this phone w/ my Visor ASAP, I am more than willing to help you guys in any way possible. Please email me if you need assistance.

(I don't know what the chances are, since it's such an old model.)

I'm from the UK and I've got a Siemens S25. Whilst I connect over IR with my visor, I'm interested in the sixpac for it's other functions. How fast is the modem over a land line?

Thanks for asking. I have a Sprint Qualcomm 2700 (aka Big Mutha) and am thinking about upgrading to the new Qualcomm thin phone or a Motorola StarTac type phone.

Qualcomm aparantly makes a flip phone as well, but Sprint PCS does not yet support it.

I'm really looking forward to both the SixPack and the MP3 players.

FYI, just bought my Eyemodule ... first day on the market ... in other words, if you build it, we will buy it.
