Just got HS's modem, HS's 8MB backup and HS's 8MB memory module.

These modules look cool except for the 8MB memory module which you cannot put apps and edits docs on it.

WOW!! And I though that my Stowaway was a large expense. Well, I guess that I'm going to do that someday. I just wish that I had gotten one of those 39.97 SB's

Oh, I just requested those products from HandSpring for my contributing editor to review.

Too bad I won't be reviewing the product because I am new to PDA.

Hang on a minute -- you can't put apps on the flash memory module? Maybe I am mistaken about how this memory module works. I was thinking that you could put anything you want on the flash memory module, but it wouldn't get backed up when you hotsync and it might take a few extra stylus taps to access stuff on it. Could someone fill me in on how this thing actually works in practice?

thanks,
bertbert

You CAN put applications on the module. I have more than $20 on mine. The only thing you need to remember is to keep the DB files and any other file that is edited by use of the application in main memory. The OS does not know how to write to the module without the file mover application. I keep PeanutPress books (notorious memory hogs) on there as well, and just make sure that the DB files for the books are in main memory (works without this, but you lose your place in the book every time you close it).

Why'd you get the Handspring modem with a Thincom modem that is a regular size springboard already released? What made you decide?

Oh, ask HandSpring. The PR person sent them to me.

Can you tell me how to put Avantgo webpages along with the problem into the module?

I am having problems with it.

Thanks!

You can't put the avantgo pages or DB's on the module because you have to be able to write to those files in order to save your place in the file. But those are not programs, they are technically Data Bases.
