-- SprintWirelessWeb a no go (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2892)
After much todo, it seems that the only way
to get a visor to work with Sprint Wireless
Web is a rather pricey module from Efig (not
too practical if all you want is a serial
connection - might as well get a palm pilot).
If anyone has any other info on this, please
post. just something to consider if you use
sprint pcs - b.t.w., a pretty darn cheap way
to go wireless if you pick your plan carefully.
There's an inexpensive serial cable coming out from MarkSpace soon. I e-mailed them and they told me it should work with a cellphone with a built-in modem. I'm not sure what kind of connector you'll need -- presumably, the data connector cable available for your cellphone will be compatible.
Anyway, that's what I'm waiting and hoping for, too. We'll find out soon enough whether it will really work.
unfortunately, the cable from Markspace
will not work with Sprint PCS, which needs
handshaking capabilities in the serial
connection. Sprint has it on their list
of ToDo's (in other words, whenever....).
So if you need to keep an eye on costs and
already use Sprint PCS, i would go for a
palm pilot over the visor (if you wanna go
wireless)for now. There is some stuff about
the Efig module in the springboard posts.
