Anyone get Visor and XP to Work?

I have done a clean install of XP Home and have not been able to get my visor to sync. The only thing that happens when I push the hotsync button is a popup message telling me USB Device Not Recognized. I dont think I can wait until Handspring comes out with a fix since all they are saying is sometime by the end of the year. Thats a long time without syncing. I may have to go back to ME if this lasts much longer.

So, I was just wondering if anyone has gotten it to work and if so what did you do to accomplish this. Thanks

I did an upgrade of Win 2000 Pro to Win XP Pro. I was surprised on the first sync that it actually installed the Handspring Visor -- I would have thought that it was already there. After that, all syncs have worked just fine.

Have you installed Handspring's latest Palm Desktop 4.0.1? Maybe that's where the USB driver comes from rather than with XP?

During the Beta's, I was able to get this to work. Make sure you have the latest desktop version from the handspring site.

My Treo 600 is my phone, my PDA, my watch, and my MP3 player. Oh yeah, I take a picture once in a while with it. Convergence is such a great thing.

Yeah, I downloaded the newest version from Handspring. Wont work for me. I hope someone can figure this out.

According to this info from Handspring, if you upgraded from 98 or ME, they suggest re-installing Palm Desktop 4.0.1. They have some other XP tips as well.

I havent dont the following with the release version of xp, but this worked for me during beta.

In device manager. Do you have any yellow signs that may be the visor?

If yes or no, disconnect the cradle from your PC.
Delete the device that may be the usb visor (f it is there).
Install the handspring software from the web site, it is the latest.
Reboot, for the fun of it.
after u reboot connect the cradle back up.
xp may see the cradle now (if not place visor in the cradle and hotsync).
let xP find the software for the device, which is should.

The trick, I think, is to not have the cradle plugged in when
upgrading/installing xp. And only plug it in after you installed the
newest software.

I did this (for a prism and deluxe) and and they are both synced during the beta.

I checked Handsprings XP information and nothing there helps me. This was a clean install of XP not an upgrade.

There are no devices listed in device manager with yellow errors. There is nothing related to my visor in there either. Is there normally something in there for the visor? I dont recall ever seeing anything when I was using ME. I will try uninstalling it and reinstalling Handspring desktop and see if that works. I will let you know.

Handspring Dropped the XP Ball

Doesn't this sound ridiculous. Eveyone and their brother have known for at least 6 months Windows XP was being released on Oct 25, 2001. What has Handspring being doing all this time. Did they have everyone and the janitor over at Handspring working on the Treo, and not leave a single person to patch up the Palm Desktop to function smoothly under Windows XP. This bull about releasing a fix by the end of the year is simply negligence! Did they expect that now one XP user would purchase their devices of upgrade aWin98 machine to XP and have a Visor as well. Geez.

I agree. Its not like they didnt know it was coming out. "By the end of the year" is kinda crazy if you ask me.

Does anyone know if Sony released a XP compatible version for their Clie? Just wondering if they are on top of things or not. That may be my next palm purchase.
