-- No Innodrives from InnoGear!?! (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=11648)
I like my InnoPak 2/V. I wish they had a 4/V or an 8/V. I also wish it would default to vibrate when I plug it in, but I can deal with that.
I considered getting a MiniJam with their current deal, but I'm pretty disappointed with them for including features in the press release that the MiniJam does not have. I'm also disappointed that they haven't ever explained why they killed the SixPack.
I think that "We don't comment on future products" would be a much better answer than "That's not our product". I'm actually much more interested in the MemPlug than a memory stick reader, but I try not to think too much about products that don't really exist yet. InnoGear's proven what that can lead to.
I second Ash's comment - I think they owe us an explanation as to why the SixPak was cancelled. I really, really wanted one.
Their problem is less that they make bad products - I like my InnoPak 2v just fine. It's their approach to PR. Look at other manufacturers with similar issues. Geodiscovery released the Geode despite the fact that the Geoview software isn't capable of delivering everything they promised - at least not now. Geodiscovery got ahead of the curve (at least with me) by providing some free content and by keeping the Visor community updated on where they were at with the software. That doesn't mean they are off the hook if they don't eventually deliver as promised, but it does help people feel they are in the loop.
By contrast, Innogear has a sort of Nixonian approach to these things. I know they used to monitor these boards (anyone else remember the "what cell phones do you use" thread re: the sixpak), and it would be relatively easy for them to be forthright about where their products are at.
sassyvisorbabe: I received an email FROM InnoGear themselves saying that the InnoDrive/MS is _not_ one of their products. You can't put it much simpler than that. I even mentioned that they (InnoGear) had a _working_ module at Comdex 2000. No InnoGear bashing here. I really thought it went the way of the Sixpak.
For everybody else: I received an email from InnoGear that they will not talk about products that aren't listed on the InnoGear web site. Considering the problems they had with the SixPak I think this is very wise for them to do.
InnoGear was very nice in all of my correspondance with them and I _will_ be purchasing an InnoDrive/MS as soon as they are available (I just want to know when!).

bkbk, I still don't agree with your class action lawsuit, but I am with you on the boycott. And I think Satan would use ***a bit more subterfuge*** than Innogear has shown.

Not taking any sides, just a comment.
I spoke to our contacts at Innogear yesterday and the Innodrive/MS work is proceding.... <snip>

This isn't directed at you personally, Marcus - I love Visor Central and I learn something new and useful about my Visor here just about every day, but one thing that has always struck me as strange is the apparent lengths to which Visor Central as an entity will go to to stick up for Innogear, a company that has clearly demonstrated its shortcomings to its customers and potential customers ever since it began pushing back the release date of the now-defunct Six-pack.__________________

I believe the MiniJam recieved the module of the year award because at the time it was truly the most innovative and/or not traditional PDA add-on. Sure, Backup Module & 8mb add-on are good products but they're not exactly groundbreaking, the MiniJam (& SoundGood) are two products that went where most PDA add-ons haven't been. A lot of Visor Modules use the Visor "just for the screen", but then if you use that excuse then I guess the only worthwhile modules would be the backup module & add-on memory.
As for them winning the contest, perhaps next year when the awards come VisorCentral can set it up so that they have their own awards and then a reader's choice awards. They could even make it like their holiday questions in that each day/week we vote in a specific category and we could be entered to win a prize.
