Can't you get them for like $49 through Handspring now?

you need to sign up for a plan, i already have one.

actually, i was wondering about this as well. what if someone who buys one of them, with a plan, loses the phone? will handspring let them buy a replacement? or is that person now stuck into a contract with no phone to use?

I'm sure they can track it with the IMEI number, so I doubt if that would work or not.
