Storing files on the MiniJam
I'm thinking about buying a 64 MB MiniJam MP3 player module for my Visor Deluxe (it's on sale at Future Shop for CDN$199). The VC review said that the MiniJam had no capability for storing non-audio files (e-books, applications, etc.) but Innogear was planning to create a software patch that would allow for file storage. Has Innogear released this patch yet, and if not, is there any word on when they will? Is there currently any other way to use the MiniJam for file storage?
Of course you can store e-books on the minijam: just recite the entire book into your computer, convert to mp3, and transfer!

There was never any follow-up by Innogear, so it looks like it will never happen.
You have two options...
You can store files on the 2 megs of memory that comes built into the MJ OR you can store files on an MMC card. As far as I can see, you can easily access files from the MMC card. In fact each time you insert the module it gives you a chopice of books, music or pictures.
For what it's worth, I LOVE my MJ. It's awesome. I would definitely recommend buying the SpeedLoader from Innogear though. The transfer rate is pretty slow without it. With it, it flys at around 10mb/second.
In case you are interested, I have a 64meg Sandisk MMC card that I want to sell. I'm thinking about putting it on eBay, but I wanted to offer it to people around here first. Let me know if you're interested.
Also, I would go with the MJ as a purchase. It's great!

The minijam does come with software in its RAM for books, movies and music. That doesn't have anything to do with what you can store on the MMC card. From what I understand, the format that minijam uses on the MMCs is proprietary and can't be read by another MMC reader. The speedloader is great but it only gives you the option of transferring the mp3 files.
When I said "insert the module" I meant the actual MiniJam. And yes you could (if you wanted to) use a seperate card for other files, but MMC cards are pretty expensive.
Anomaly...forgot about that limitation...sorry. I'm all about music anyway so why would I want to waste precious space for pictures!
Lots of promises from innogear that never came to pass! Anyone know whats up with them these days.?
