I know, take out your modem first. and install the eraser.prc and run it. I think there is a button called wait for smart media. press it. and plug in your modem. and after you plug it press the erase button. it should work!
good luck

It worked!!! Now it doesn't reset all the time.. I am downloading the updater now and will try reinstall the applications that way.. I'll keep you posted...

I had a weird system crash last week and I think it did indeed scramble the flash ram..

Thanks again Akur!!!

IT'S BACK TO NORMAL - Internet connection seems to be functional!!! THANKS AGAIN!!!

I was really sweating it out, with Yada going south just two days after I called their tech support.. (I should have known better and asked here first!!!) I really thought I was going to get stuck with a dead Minstrel and no chance of going to Omnisky (via a flash update) or some other provider..

Thanks again!!! (I feel a whole lot better now)

I got the same feeling before, when I cannot use my modem.
I'm so desperate but now I'm happy!

Thumbs down Nadanada!

I can't seem to get through to Nadanada today, at either phone number. I just get stuck on hold forever. And the web site appears to be down too.

I wish they'd send us some notification already...

Thumbs down NO SERVICE IN SEATTLE!

Downloaded the new Yadayada software (4.0)featuring their new color browser. However, haven't had any service from them since early yesterday. So I am unable to try it out! Anyone else establishing a connection? Is Yadayada out for the count??

YY Service

I, too, can no longer connect! It looks like YY service has stopped 8-)

Posted by wforde on 04-18-2001 04:13 PM:

I havent been able to connect since yesterday.
If they are actually closing, i am not going to
switch, instead i plan to use my SprintPCS phone
as my means of going wireless. Just realized that
I can configure my yahoo account to send a alert
to my phone when there is new mail based on a filter.
So instead of checking for new mail, I will actually
know i have new mail before i connect.

I can't connect either, although my modem's battery is kind of low, so I'm not sure if the problem is on YadaYada's end or on my end.

However, their website is still up, and it's been redone.

Posted by swendor on 04-18-2001 06:00 PM:

I don't know if it makes a difference, but I'm in Maryland and I am still able to connect problem free and with good throughput. However, I cannot connect to the default YadaYada home site. (Error 404)

Question used eraser..now what?

Hello-

I just used eraser to flash the modem and now the modem power and connect options are gone as well as the file mover application...any suggestions?:confused

Posted by Jay on 04-18-2001 07:20 PM:

I was actually using mine just now when it pooped out on me. Bummer!

I called YY and got a recorded message saying that they're not shipping out modems anymore. The system then transferred me to a 'customer service rep'.

The phone rang a lot and then clicked over. A different-sounding ring alerted me to the fact I was being switched to an answering service. So I asked the helpful lady if she was an answering service. Yes. Then I asked if tech support was still answering calls at all -- did she know? She thought they were because she hasn't gotten a lot of irate calls. She did say that she was getting tons of calls, but everyone was polite. Kudos, gentle Visor people!

I can't understand why they'd change their site the day that the servers are pulled. That doesn't make sense. Nice new product demo, though! Plus, they're releasing that new taskbar (which looks great and I want it!).

This is very confusing. I wish they'd make some kind of announcement, even if it's just "We're still figuring it out, will get back to you next week." Unless they start communicating quickly, I plan to stop paying and change providers. $40 a month isn't cheap, and if the service is down for a few days, well, I want my bill pro-rated. Not likely to happen if the company's gone. Although I hope they're not. I was happy with my service. It was more reliable than my Sprint PCS phone.

BTW, the error I'm getting says something like:

"A connection with the Minstrel is not available. Please select Reconnect or Cancel.'

Unhappy Yada phone message

I just called the Yada 800# and got a recording that said:

"Currently we're unable to accept new orders or process returns. We're also experiencing technical difficulties which will prevent your modem from registering on the network properly in some areas of the country. Please be patient as we're working to resolve this problem as soon as possible.

Sounds hopeful, no?
I don't know what to think!

Exclamation Yada's Not Dead Yet!

Greetings everyone,

This afternoon I got lucky when someone named Eric answered the phone at Yada. (He's the same person who left the new outgoing message that you guys are referring to.) He said that Yada is definitely NOT going out of business, and fully intends to continue service; though they are having major problems today.

I made him aware of this thread and that many are under the impression that Yada is going under. I stressed to Eric that Yada needs to make a public statement SOON; whether it's via email or on their website, and he agreed. He said that he'll pass my message on to his superiors asap.

I also made him aware that some of you have already initiated contact with Omnisky and that Yada better act expediently before they lose any further customers.

To those of you who have already called other services: BE CAREFUL! If Yada is truly not going under, then your hurry to sign on with the competition may leave you stuck with commitments to two contracts.

Eric did say to please bear with them while they correct today's glitches.

Only time will tell...

I got online with OmniSky today - yesterday Verizon's network was having trouble. It took the tech some time to find a good IP, but it took YY's tech at least as long. The so-called browser is useless so far - back to Blazer...I never did get it to work, but the email feature is fine and connected to my ISP POP3 easily. The modem sometimes crashes my Visor, which it did not do under YY. I do like OmniSky's more professional approach, assigning a Case Number to follow the issues, very quick response when I called Tech Support and a more active web site. I'll reservbe judgement on the service until I test it more fully. Since I signed on for only one month, using my free modem, I have no real concerns if it does not pan out...

Have you run the flash updater from your ISP( yada yada or Omnisky) again?

Lowtech,

I'll be curious to know your findings. Please let us know of your feelings toward Omnisky; particularly if any aspects of the web that were accessable via Yada are not accessable via Omnisky... Also, does the Omni browser support color?

Thanks,
