Question

We are all aware of Innogear's pager. But I am not all to happy about their somewhat ridiculous pricing plan.

Is anyone aware of any other companies that are working on Springboard pagers and that would have a better pricing plan?

I am a MIS techie and I hate carrying around a pager, cell phone, Visor, work orders, software, cat 5 cable, and other stuff.

A pager (or cell phone, but that seems a bit too much) springboard would help reduce my load a bit and maybe decrease the amount of sanity lost during the day.

You could get that PDq smartphone with the Palm Pilot, Pager, cell phone, internet, etc. all in one!

Just a thought...

While I did consider the PDq phone about a month ago, I do not think it is within my reasonable budget.

I am just looking for a Innogear type pager that has a flat rate instead of 'credits' and that I can plug into my Visor.

There surely must be some company that is thinking what I am thinking, or at least can Innogear not see that Skytel and 'credits' aer not exactly the best way to go (not to say that Skytel is bad or anything....)?

Glenayre also is signed on as a "wireless" springboard. They currently have a pager that you can use Ir to xfer pages. Hopefully they will release more info soon.

While it wasn't exactly what I was looking for, I guess it's a start. I assume to companies working on paging devices are better than just one.

Talking

Just a quick note I talked with the people at global access yesterday (11/29/99) about the innogear pager. It will work outside the visor as well -you know STANDALONE! Being an old user of the pagemart in my palm pro this is a real bonus! Plus skytell should be much more reliable than the cell phone type pagemart synapse card, which is great to begin with -although not availible for the visor. Pricing should be about the same and you can carry the unused time forward. Pagemart was about $10/month it should be close to the same with the innogear unit at around $40 for 3 months.

Thanks a bunch
