I don't believe the Treo is really cutting edge from a technology perspective but it is a nice package. That said I would hardly say the Treo is late to market...the PDA/Phone market is just beginning to emerge and there are millions of people out there that have phones without PDAs built into them.
I am also sure that over the next year there will be other companies that release products similar to the Treo that will probably eclipse it in either form or technology.
As for the interview, there is a difference between asking hard questions and being a hard ass. This guy who I have never seen and will likely not bother with is just a hard ass. However, Donna, did not come up with the right answers to his berating questions and for the people out there who do not have PDAs but do have cell phones (the majority of the population), I think she came off not so well.
As for the email, Handspring should have known it would be brought up on the show (which I assume it was). This was a tactical mistake that I am sure they will not do again. Additionally, if they stick to the "no more interviews" policy for this guy, I am sure he will bring it up again to throw in Handsprings face...eg "Handspring had no comment".
Again though, just my observations and opinions.

News written by Bart Simpson
It's fun to read the interview with Cavuto doing the voice of Bart and Dubinsky doing the voice of Lisa. It works better that way. Like many of the so-called news shows on today, the only purpose for this one seemed to be to rattle Dubinsky and create some buzz. The host hoped to get some water cooler action going by doing this in-your-face confrontation with one of the pioneers in the field. Her mistake was not refusing to be interviewed or not getting good info about the show from her communications guy Bush.
Well, I emailed Allen Bush and told him exactly just how childish I though his email to Cavuto was. He emailed me back and admitted he was totally wrong, it was a "mistake on [his] part", and he was "sorry if [he] offended [me]".
Allen's email to Cavuto was the first time HS had truly disappointed me. I'm glad to see he is willing to admit when he makes a mistake. Allen's reply to me has completely reaffirmed my confidence in HS. Glad to see those are the kind of people at work at HS.

The Jerry Springer Cavuto Show
Cavuto asked questions he was not really interested in getting an answer for. He was not really interested in journalism aspect of the Treo or the company. Basically his purpose was just to badger Dubinsky in which he did to get a rise. This is basically how the Jerry Springer show breaks down analysis of a situation.
Cavuto, Dubinsky and Bush,
I saw the initial interview and the subsequent readings of Bush's correspondence to Cavuto by Cavuto. This entire exchange was unfortunate and did not need to happen. Each participate initially did little to help their causes. Neil was tough on Dubinsky, Donna did not seem totally prepared and Allen's initially correspondence made things worse. Allen's subsequent apology has helped greatly.
Handspring, Inc. was ripped by e-mail from viewers of Cavuto's show for the initial stance taken by Allen. Since his apology, things have been more positive.
The transcripts of the entire episode are fine to read, but you had to be there to see it all unfold to truly understand the dynamics of the events. None of it was as bad as some here have made it sound.
God Bless America.

Dubinsky blew it
I think Dubinsky blew this interview, and sending an email just made it worse. As I read the transcript I kept thinking of how I would have responded. She gave no specifics and just kept saying "you know this is different and we think people will want it." Great, WHY? I am criticizing her as a fan of Handspring and Treo. When you get into a tough interview you have a huge opportunity to turn it around by making good responses.
To all of you that think Fox News is biased: What if the other news stations are the ones that are biased? Did you stop to think of that? I think more people agree with me (judgeing from Fox News' numbers) Fox News is refreshingly unbiased.

Neil Cavuto was totally unprofessional and as a journalist he should be ashamed with his actions.
