How do you know that? Did you confirm that with Handspring?

That is from Terms and Conditions on Handspring's rebate form. The Staples discounts are not Handspring Visor-branded rebates or offers. They are Staples discount offers. I am holding with Handspring's customer service as I type this and will post what I find out.

Here's the deal...

I just talked to Handspring's Rebate customer service. Initially, Handspring was not honoring the rebates if you purchased your VDX for less than the standard retail price. However, they "experienced problems" and have since changed their policy. If you purchased your VDX for less than the standard retail price and submitted a timely rebate, they will now honor the rebate. RobertDrake, if you resubmit your rebate, Handspring will honor it. You must have submitted yours before they changed their policy. The telephone number for Handspring's rebate center is (888) 522-6647. Call them - they may have resubmitted it for you. If not, you should find out what you have to do to get it. The customer service rep checked the status of my rebate and she said the check has been ordered and should be on its way soon.

I can't see how they could have done this and looked themselves in the mirror. As you said earlier, there is nothing stated in any of the paperwork about such limitations on the rebate.

Having to "resubmit" your rebate is also a crock.

I totally agree - it's a big crock of you-know-what. A lot of people don't keep copies of the documentation they send in. What happens to them?

I am guessing that they had a few irate (to put it mildly) customers. Most likely, they realized that nowhere in the rebate Terms and Conditions did they make a provision for this and therefore, were forced to honor these rebates.

Thumbs up

Call Staples.com (1-800-3staples) and tell them you want the product pricematched with the one on handsprings website. Give them the $40 off coupon listed at fatwallet.com and get it for $160 before tax...

Got my rebate check yesterday

In case anyone cares, I got my check yesterday for the $50 VDx rebate. I guess this means that Handspring will honor rebates for Visors purchased for less than standard retail.
