-- Minijam Discussion (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=8094)
I wanted to start a thread for people who actually recived thier minijam modules. I have a few questions to other users of the minijam.
First off, it seems like the unit drains batteries when it is plugged in & not actually playing. Do I need to remove it when I'm not using it.
Secondly, where's the best deal on MMC cards. I already want more memory!
Thirdly, does anyone know the polarity of the external power socket. Is it center pin positive? I would like to get my own AC adapter for it.
Fourthly, will any MMC > USB reader work to transfer MP3's to this unit? or do I have to use Innogear's speedloader when they release it.
That's all for now, thanks.

I can respond to your fourth topic (as I have come across it in another thread). Innogear states that their file format is proprietary and that you will need the speedloader. I cannot reply to your other topics as I am still waiting for my minijam.
But then one of innogears accesories, is a MMC card to computer USB dongle thingie.. Maybe theirs away to implement the software on the hardware..

MMC format Unique
I asked Innogear, their format of the MMC is unique.. So any old 3rd party MMC reader won't work, like shoving an Amiga 800k formatted floppy into a fresh out of the box Mac.
That's a bummer about the proprietary memory adapters. I'll just have to wait for the speedloader.
I've been using the sleep mode & it looks like it's doing the trick. My battery life is back down to normal when the module is sleeping.
One more question. What is the light on the back for? I've noticed it blink red & green when I plug it into the visor, but it never does anything else. Any ideas?
Thanks
To all you folks with the minijam. How do you carry the minijam and visor together? What case do you use?
Yardie>
The soft case that comes with it is OK. It allows you to carry both the visor w/minijam & the headphones.
Personally, I'm using the soft leather-like case that came with the Visor. It provides a little more screen protection, and still fits the module. I wish they could have fit the hard plastic front case to it still. I feel that the screen is a bit more exposed to damage when I carry it around now.
Hopefully Innogear won't take too long getting the cases out.

MJLoader & Afterburner Speed hack
Has anyone tried using the hackmaster Afterburner hack and the MJloader (pda side) programs together..
I had a thought that it might help speed up the transfer, I've fiddled with it but haven't had much luck.. Then again I am not a "hackmaster" GURU by any means.. Maybe someone else out there may know the magic settings..
I've found it just refuses to communicate.
Just a thought..
External Power
Any thoughts on number three... external power voltage and polarity?

InnoGear will also be selling an AC Wall Adapter and a cigarette lighter eventually (price/availability TBD). You can also use Radio Shack's 6V, 300mA AC to DC adapter with the universal plug on the end (Cat No 273-1758, $8.99) with the adapter plug type "A" (O.D. 2.3mm, I.D. 0.7mm, Cat No 273-1704, $1.99)

Minijam ext power, center pin +
Hi,
If you read the minijam user guide.pdf manual (yes I am one of those who do),, It says on page #16 (bullet #12) External Power Jack (DC-IN): 6VDC (center contact is positive)
