Opening files in Windows....changing preferences

How do I change the setting in my Windows XP machine so that the default setting for my file "Open" dialogue box is always "Details", ordered by file name, type, date changed, and listed in reverse chronilogical order (newest at the top).

It drives me nuts having to pull down the details menu, then re-order my file list every time I go to access a file from within an application.
