-- Any Word On Kodak PalmPix Springboard? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=10466)
Greetings,
Any word if a Kodak PalmPix Springboard is anything more than wishful thinking?
If they come up with one, I'll be first on the waiting list.
Just keeping the idea alive...........
Happy Holidays,

Here is the response I got from Kodak :
No, we have no plans to develop a version for the Handspring Visor at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience.

I do NOT look wierd! I just look ... "different".
Sad that HS, EM, nor anyone else, seems to be interested in improving the lot of those of us who are into digigal imaging ... esp. in light of all the PktPC devices now or soon to support much higher quality than the sole Visor solution, the EM, now affords us...
That new Palmax sure looks great...
maybe you are wording your question wrong. i think it would be financially better for Kodak to modify the current PalmPix so that the connector works on a visor.
if you ask me, i'd rather have a camera that attaches to the bottom connector on my visor than a springboard module. That way i can keep a module in the visor and snap on the 'visorPix' for a quick picture!
So their reply may be correct 'Not producing a SPRINGBOARD PalmPix'. However, perhaps we should be asking if they intend on modifying the connector for the visor on the current PalmPix.
Could this be done at home? My friend has some extra connectors he ordered during the CF card do-it-yourselfer project. Would it be possible to take out the connector from the palmPix and install a visor compatible connector???

I like this idea....
Hoser,
Great idea! Kodak already makes an adapter so you can use the palmpix with the Palm V series called the Dock V. It retails for $29.95. I wonder if you could just rewire the adapter. I sent off an email to Kodak asking if they would consider making an adapter for the handspring, well see how they respond. Anybody good with hardware that wants to try to rewire the Dock V?

I recieved a similiar response to my query in June 2000. When did you get your response?

the SMaL digital camera is just a little bigger than a springboard module and is 640 x 480. so how tough can it be for the folks at eyemodule to put out something with a little more resolution??

but I might research this to see if it's possible as well.code:
Palm III Visor -------------------- 1 DTR ------> n/a 2 +3.3vdc --> n/a 3 RD -------> 1 4 RTS ------> n/a 5 TD -------> 8 6 CTS ------> n/a 7 GPI1 -----> n/a (HS1 ?) 8 GPI2 -----> n/a (KBD ?) 9 unused ---> n/a 10 GND ------> 4

A lot of good ideas in this thread - more power to all to bring 'em to fruition.
I don't know what's wrong w/Block / Ideo - maybe they didn't make enough money 1st time around w/their poor product, and they got dissuaded.
PalmPix, or almost anything else, is better resolution.
I noticed a great stat on the credit-card sized camera w/MM Card ability:
Shutter Speed 1/10 to 1/1000 sec...
...which was just another flaw w/EyeModule.
Did I miss the price? I don't believe it's posted. Par for the course. Can't wait to see one in my local store, though. They talk up the res., but I didn't see anywhere I could click on demo photos. Maybe they'll put up a link in the near future.
Hey, did everybody see this?...
Okay, okay -- I guess I owe 'em a *BIT* of an apology...
Attach Images to Address Book Contacts on a Handspring Visor
New, Free eyecontact Software Application Now Available
(Palo Alto, Calif., Dec. 18, 2000) --- Handspring Visor users can now match a face with a name using the new, free eyecontact software application for use with the eyemodule digital camera. Created by the eyemodule development team, eyecontact works with an eyemodule user's existing address book to attach photos to individual entries. The eyecontact software is now posted at http://www.eyemodule.com as a free download.
you know, bkbk, at first i thought the EyeContact thing was a neat idea. But after thinking about it, i'm not sure i want to ask people if it's alright to take their picture when i'm putting their info in my visor.
I can see friends and family members agreeing, but business associates, possible customers you meet at conferences??? hmmmm...

I haven't got a response from Kodak on whether or not they were/are/had considered doing and adapter for the palm pix, but the email adress I used may not have gone to the right place. What email address did those of you who got responses use?

Uhm...Why do they have to know <snip> ? It's not <snip> like a standard camera at them.
OK, I know it would be better if <snip> consent form.
My EyeModule is (should be) arriving today. <snip> (18) <snip> students <snip> picture into my address book. <snip> names with their faces much quicker
<snip> with other faculty, <snip> talking about the same student.
<snip>
<snip>I think the Visor need a tripod mount <snip> on the eyemodule springboard itself. A remote shutter (take a picture) button would be nice too. I'd like to see a "new" eyemodule that has a pivoting lens.
<snip> Lastly, I want the price to come down. I DID get mine for $70ish with help from the $50 rebate and a $30 coupon. I just think that $70-$80 ought to be the MSRP to begin with, so EVERYONE would get an Eyemodule. When everyone has one, we're sure to see some more applications for them.
