-- which map software for external GPS? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=10379)

Santa was gooooood to me. I received my Garmin eTrex for Christmas. I have the parts for a cable and I am ready to find the map software.

Question is: Which GPS software should I use? I have a BVD with an additional 8Meg springboard.

I have looked at Quo Vadis and DeLorme Solus Basic (i.e. the demo versions). Both look pretty nice but I would hate to put down $40-$50 and find out there is a better option.

Any ideas? Which one has better maps? Which one is faster? Which one do you like the best and why?

Thanks
Frank

Ok, listen to me. Read my lips. "Quo Vadis." Write that down, then go buy it. I have Quo Vadis and have used it for over a year. Just upgraded to 2.0 which is MUCH faster and has more up-to-date maps. Right after I upgraded, I found out about Solis. Well, I bought it too. Solis is web based. That means you have to go make your own maps or directions or whatever, then load to the visor. With Quo Vadis you can sync the maps you have for the areas you go to and forget about it.

Did you forget that you needed to go to smalltown and pick up the your long lost aunt? You did? Well, too bad because the map to get you there is still in the internet since you didn't choose that specific start/end point and download the map to your visor.

Again, I love Quo Vadis and have waited on a SB GPS because there are none that support NMEA compatibility. I did order the Geode because they say they support it. I will have to wait and see...
