Mac freezes while hotsynching
Hello -
Periodically -- about 50% of the time -- when I hotsync my Visor at the end of the day my Mac G3 (system 8.6) the computer freezes and I have to do a cold reboot. Has anyone had success solving a similar problem?
Thanks in advance,
Patrick
Try this...
Try this...
In the finder set the memory allocation size of the "Conduit Manager" to 18MB. I read somewhere that the Conduit Manager's memory allocation should be set to 2 x your Visor's RAM size + 2MB. For an 8MB Visor this is 18MB. For a 2MB Visor this is 6MB. This could be your problem.
Another possibility is old Palm Desktop software. Try updating it either to the most recent Handspring version of Palm Desktop or the most recent Palm version. I'm using the Palm version, Rev 2.6.3, on my PowerMac G4 under System 9.1 and it works fine. Palm added support for Handspring's USB interface in that version so you don't need Handspring's special version. No crashes yet.
I have a slightly different problem but since you are Mac users, maybe you can help.
I can get only one synch done between my Visor Platinum and my iMac. Then I have to restart the iMac. This is fairly recent, but I can't remember changing anything. Any clues?
Thanks in advance

Sorry I can't help. I use a G3 and an older Visor, but I've never had to restart after a synch. My problem is on those occassions when I try to synch and it freezes in the middle on me.
Hope you find your solution!
Your problem does sound like lack of memory. Did that suggestion of setting the memory at 18 mb work?
Or it could be a time out problem. Do you have the latest Palm desktop stuff?
thanks for your reply anyway
