Visor & Win2K
I just change OS from Win98 to Win2K. The USB in Win2K seems to be working fine. When the Handspring Device is being installed by the new device wizard, I get an error message: "An error occurred during installation of the device." "The installation failed because a function driver was not specified for this device instance."
I've uninstalled the Handspring Device from the hardware device manager and tried to reinstall. I get the same error message every time.
Win2K finds an .inf file during the intallation c:\winnt\inf\visorusb.inf and uses that to install the device. Still, I get the error message.
I've only been a win2k user for about a month, wiped my drive and upgraded from winME it rocks!
I think what you are trying to do is use the built in drivers win2k has... if so don't! Use your CD if you still have it as you should do with every piece of hardware you install. That way you have all the latest drivers and definitley the right ones.
I *think* this is what you are trying to do... correct me if wrong.

You're right... I'm trying to use the Win2K "built in" drivers. I'd like to use drivers on the CD, but there are no Win2K drivers on the Handspring CD that I have.
When the hardware installation gets to where it wants software, it looks for a file with an .inf file extension. I searched the entire CD that came with my VDX, and there is only one .inf file on the disk. It's the file that autoruns the CD when it is put into the CD drive. It is not a Win2K driver .inf file.
When you run the Palm Desktop software on the CD, it installs the drivers automatically. This happened to me when I put in 98SE; try running the autoinstall again and/or getting the new copy of PD from handspring.com

I found the answer *indirectly* to my Win2K problem on the Handspring web site. I downloaded the newest Handspring desktop software from the site. The .inf file that I needed was included in that download.
Strange... I've got a VDX and the .inf file was on my CD, if i remember correctly I did have to search for it though.
Oh well, I was gonna say download from the Handspring Web site.
