-- problems with serial terminal (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=14484)
I've successfully configured some intel harwdare (switches and vpn units) with my visor and a serial telnet (I've successfully used ptelnet, online from markspace and Mterm), using both the standard serial cradle and a serial cable by atlcables.
The problem is I cannot find a way to use my visor with 5xx series switches (always from intel). I've tried with all the combinations of cables&programs described above, but my visor simply refuses to connect
anyone has a clue?
thank you very much, I'm tired of dragging about a heavy big notebook

I'm not familiar with the 5xx hardware but if they require any of the serial control lines that could be the problem since the Visor doesn't have anything other the TX and RX.

do you have any positive experience using a visor with any other kind of serial communications?

seems to be an intel's problem
it seems it's not Visor's fault after all, according to a post I've just found on intel's support messageboard, some of their switches works just with a nullmodem cable "with all the pins wired".
but the best (or the worst) is that at intel's support have not the slightest idea about why or on wich device it happens.
and, BTW, what the heck "all the pins wired" means

All Pins Wired?
My guess would be that all pins need to be sensible as either at ground or signal level and not 'connected' to air.
I suspect they have a (buggy) active level sensing scheme.
Intel pinout?
Do you have a pinout of the Intel device's serial connector? If you do, I could probably give you some helpful suggestions as to how to connect to it.

and I have not a personal cable to tear apart.__________________
