Handspring Serial Docking Cradle

I was shopping in Walmart a few weeks ago and noticed that some of the serial docking cradles did not work for the Visor Prism. I noticed one specifically for the Visor Edge but assumed that was because of the design difference. But seeing that the Prism is the same setup as the Neo, Visor, and the Deluxe why would it say it didnt work for the Prism?

The Prism actually does use a different docking cradle...because of the color screen and rechargeable battery, the Prism is slightly thicker (0.8 in. vs. 0.7 in.) than the Pro/Platinum/Neo.

I found this out the hard way, when I got my Prism as a refurbished unit from CompUSA. The unit they sent me had a cradle made for a different Visor, and no matter how I tried positioning the Prism in it, it would not fit. An email to CompUSA and a few days later, I had a cradle specifically designed for the Prism.

It has to be more then just the size.

If you look at just a sync-cable, even that is seperate for a Prism.

A sync cable would care how thick a Prism is, if it worked with a Deluxe,Pro,Neo, ect also.

you are right about it not being just the size. Thats were the point about the rechargable batteries comes in the Prism uses rechargable batteries while the Deluxe, Neo etc use alkaline
