Hullo all, as I was inspecting my VDx for signs of the cracks I've heard about on this board I noticed something on the inside of my battery cover. It seems someone used white-out to write the letters MT 3 on the removeable cover. This suggests to me that I have a reconditioned unit. I don't particularly enjoy this thought, so I was wondering if you all think I should return it? I've only had a few problems with syncing with it, but a soft reset fixed those. I really like the VDx, but I don't want a reconditioned unit at a new unit's price. Thanks for replying!

That "white out" is in all the visors.

This has been brought up before.

mine says "FT5" right under the batteries. is this a newer version of yours, or do all of them say this? i got mine around the middle of Jan.

Ummmm....mine doesnt have any "white-out" style letters ANYWHERE on the visor...what are you guys talkin about?

Don't you think you are a little bit picky here? You Visor works fine, as far as you can tell the unit is new , so sign of it being a used unit or a reconditioned one except for the white spot on the battery cover. If you are going to return a unit that works perfectly for another one because a white out on a battery cover, I think it's a big mistake. If you just want your money back because you don't want the Visor, that's another story.

Under the batteries. Take the batteries out (not for long) and you will/should see them.

This has been brought up earlier... apparently, they are some sort of inspection stamps done in the manufacturing process. While cosmetically ugly, they really have no significance and certainly do not limit the Visor's functionality in any way.

Not to worry about the "white out." I'm an engineer in the PCB electronics industry. I can tell you that our quality control and test departments use a similar ink stamp on our boards after inspection.

If you were to disassemble your Visor (NOT suggesting you do, as that would void your warranty), you'll notice similar stamps on the board. That's the biz.
