-- Backlit light problem with Visor Platinum (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=10456)
I just got the Visor Platinum and found that when the backlit light comes on, the display inverts the text light background dark. I find it very hard to read, is this normal or is the unit defective ? If this is normal I am thinking about exchanging it with Prism. How is the backlit light in Prism. Any reccomendation is appreciated.
One more question about the Prism: Does all the programs made for monochrome work on the Prism ?
Because the Prism is a color screen, it has no backlight. If you don't like the backlight on the VPL, then you can download many different hacks which will invert the backlight for you.
BEN
Or, well, re-invert, as the case may be. BEN's advising you that there are several programs out there that will alter the original backlight on your platinum such that, when you turn the light on, the text is dark against a green lighted background, a la USR (later 3Coms) Palm Pilot Personals and Professionals of the past. MUCH easier on the eyes than the *shudder* orig backlighting. Think I downloaded the "Greenlight" hack. Public domain. http://www-cs-students.stanford.edu/~dianders/palm/
Try it!
I'm using the GreenLight hack also, but it seems to "quit" after using it for a minute or two. I'll put the backlight on, then go into AvantGo or something. When I go back to the Launcher, it just goes right back to the dark background with light text... are there any others you are aware of?

Try Gadget Hack

It adds TONS of features and is quite user friendly.
Also Try LightHack.

The nice thing about light hack is after turning on the backlight, if you keep holding down the power key and drag the stylus from the Graffiti area to the top half of the screen, the screen will switch back and forth from inverted to normal, giving you full control over how the backlight appears
