Question

How come the documenatation says to use a paper clip for a soft reset when you've got a perfectly good reset tool on the tip of the stylus? (Unscrew the tip and see the reset tool.) Unscrew the top end and see the neat screwdriver.

Most likely because the documentation hasn't been updated. How long ago did you receive your Visor?

When the Visor _first_ shipped, a cheaper stylus (in function and quality) accompanied it. Later shipments include the newer stylus. Search this web site and you'll see the discussions surrounding the old and new supplied stylus.

Documentation files are usually last to get updated and although it's probably one little change, it does invoke a QA process that probably not very cost effective at this time (check out the original document, make the change, save the new document, compare both documents, check in the new document, convert to PDF, compare old and new PDF, check in the new PDF, create a new staging CD, compare original and new staging CD, recall or stop inventory of the original CD, replace CD, check packaging, notify the field, yada, yada, yada).

Wink

And if you had lost the Handspring stylus containing the screw driver & reset pin and replaced it with something like either of the two versions of the relatively expensive Cross Pen styli you will still need that old reliable paper clip.

Just got a shipment of 8 VDx for a pilot project @ work. 6 came with the new styli, 2 with the cheap plastic ones (the two that came with the cheapies are Blue, FYI). I wouldn't count on always getting a "new & improved" stylus. BTW, what am I supposed to use the screwdriver for, anyway?

Screwdriver fits the screws that hold the Visor together, so if you need to do a little maitenance (Like I had to clean sandish type stuff out of mine). It also fits a lot of other screws used for computers, but the metal seems to be cheap for the screwdriver and it will wear it down.

Which stylus are you talking about. The one I got with my VDX last Nov is simply plain black plastic - nothing unscrews.
- BTW - I bought a Pentopia stylus for the Palm for it with a pen in one end and a re-set pin in the other - which I love - except that the re-set pin is TOO SHORT to make a re-set??
- So - pending the release of the 6-Pack I've simply taped a paperclip inside my Springboard drawer. I don't know where I'll carry it when I get my 6-pack.

They started shipping a single Metal stylus (the nice ones handspring sells on their site) with the Visor Deluxe earlier this year I think. I have the plastic twig too... along with a PDA Panache black stylus of course!

chucm-

I took a short piece of a paperclip and wrapped scotch tape around one end to give it more width (like a little handle) and I used to carry it in my battery compartment right between the 2 batteries........

Until I got my PDA Panache.......

www.amazon.com also sells them, same price, but shipping is a lot less, and they don't charge tax in any state.

Has the PDA Panache Deluxe Stylus started shipping with a reset pin long enough to reset the Visor's button? The first one I got from them (and unfortunately lost) was too short to reset the Visor. I finally bought the Handspring pen stylus and 5 pack of replacement styli. I'd buy another PDA Panache stylus of the pin was long enough. So far, it has been the best feeling stylus and glided over the screen very smoothly.

Got my Panache in April and the pin works fine.

I also have the Panache and the reset pin works fine. It's too long, if anything!

Peace
