Visorphone Mike Bad?
I bought a visorphone thru an ebay auction. I curretly do not have a carrier. But after charging the phone up I could make calls to 611 (T-Mobile customer service) and hear the party on the other end, but they could not hear me. I then plugged in a gneric headset I had sitting around, and tried again. With the headset I could hear the other party, and they could hear me. But the operator on the other end said that I came in and out, and she could hear some buzzing.
Is it safe to say the microphone in my Prism is not working? Or is this a design problem with the Visor - possibly poor reception? Or is there some button somewhere I have to push to activate the mike so people can hear me?

the phones are free with service and you need service to use it unless you got a smc for the phone. So why didnt you get a new one? It could be dammaged cause you got it on ebay. were you inside did the signal meter show low rescepion?
flybri,
quite honestly, if i had it to do over again, i'd buy a regular phone, but i can say that mine's seemed to get better as i go along. try pushing the 'scroll up' button to control the volume. my phone always seemed too loud, so i use this to turn volume up and down. i don't know if that'd effect the other person hearing me too or not, but it might be worth a try.
try taking your phone apart (it's amazingly simple as i found out - see the 'swimmin' prism' post) and see if anything is loose/disconnected. you can do the same to the prism.
let me know what you find.

mic bad?
The microphone circuitry is on the visor itself, not the phone module. It is probably the source of your issues.
I have heard of issues with the buit in microphone on some visors. Check some of the other threads.
