Fatal Error storm

Beginning a few weeks ago, I started getting an incredible flood of fatal errors and odd problems with my Visor Deluxe.

The oddest is that the unit sometimes will not turn off unless I do a system reset. This is somewhat random, but often happens after a soft rest.

The most common error message has been something about 'page 4168'? (Of course, I cannot get it to re-do it now!), which someone said was usually a corrupt database.

I WAS using VFSHelper, PowerRUN, MegaLauncher and some other programs that I have since deleted in an effort to clear the problem- and it did not stop it (The rate of errors slowed, but did not stop). I have run dbScan and InWatch Pre-Clean to try to get rid of bad files and it still happened. I wiped and re-synced everythig to clear it out and it still happens.

In fact, at one point, it would turn on by itself and pop up an error message, even though I do not think there was an alarm or anything set for that time!

I am ABOUT ready to clear the computer AND the Visor and start from dead scratch- rebuild the datebook data, etc. from the ground up.

Yesterday, I moved every questionable file to the CF card (FlashPlus), and erased those I could. So far things have been better. (The files included FA_Log.PDB, FA_util_log.PDB, FTFontListDB.PDB, InternalAppHash.PDB, MBIn-MRIndex.PDB, MBInProfile.PDB, MBInUserConfig.PDB, and either NetPrefs .PRC or NetPrefs.PRC (I moved both, but one would not delete).

Just now- as I was reading off these names from the VDX screen, it clicked inot a Fatal Exception- nothing was being touched, but I believe we hit the time-out time (2 min.). Hitting the on-screen 'Reset' button brings me back to a situation where I can NOT turn the unit off, and another 'Fatal Exception' comes up. A 'System Reset' seems to clear things up.

Any thoughts??

Hi,
Maybe its the solar flare stuff I read about! Seriously I just went through the same thing. I believe it has to do with using my VFS software (PiVFS beta)and Launcher III but can't be sure. Anyway I took the batteries out of the visor until it was really wiped out. Then I moved the backup folder out of the Palm directory on the computer. Then I reinstalled everything back to the visor. So far so good. I did run each app before I moved it to the Memplug SM card so it could set any preferences into RAM it needed. So far so good. If you leave the backup directory in place you might be restoring the problem file each time.
