-- setting up visor on imac (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2300)
Setting up my visor on my imac , it didn't recognize the cradle/hot sync. I had to reboot the imac with extensions off and now the visor cd will not appear on the deaktop and I cannot get it out of the drive.
Do I need a special cable between the cradle and the usb port on the imac? Or is the one supplied by visor suffiecient.
Running system 9.0 on the imac
thanks
R
I sync my Visor with an iMac (OS 8.5.1). You do not need a special cable since the cradle that is supplied is an USB cradle. You can plug in the cradle to either the USB port accessed by opening the small door on the right side of the iMac or to the port on the keyboard (which is what I do, since my printer is connected to the other port).
When you turn the extentions off the CD ROM driver is inactivated and this is the reason why you do not see the Visor CD on your desktop.
Hope this info is helpful.I would be interested to know, once you start to sync, if you experience a delay betweeen pressing the HotSync button on the cradle and the actual start of synchronization.

Do a pin reset while the Visor is in the cradle. Then it should work.
Here's another thought: I've tried using the USB port on the keyboard, and it works only sporadically when hot synching. However, since I've plugged the cradle directly into the computer all works flawlessly. (I'm using iMac with 8.6)
I was using Windows to Hotsync on my laptop. Then my Hotsync on my laptop crashed. So I tried loading the Handspring software on my daughters IMac with Mac 9.0. The following ensued exactly.
"Setting up my visor on my imac , it didn't recognize the cradle/hot sync. I had to reboot the imac with extensions off and now the visor cd will not appear on the deaktop and I cannot get it out of the drive."
I discussed it with a Mac Technical Expert who is confident that it is a software problem!
Since, my daughters IMac was purchased less than 14 days ago I took it back, exchanged it for a new IMac instead of dealing with a computer with a potentially corrupted software package. Fixed my Hotsync on my laptop by uninstalling the Hotsync software, re-installing it and Hotsyncing my Visor and hard resetting it and loading everything back.
Based on what I have just read and the fact that two users have had almost identical problems I am concerned about Handspring and Mac 9.0 being compatible. Are there any users that are using 9.0 with there visor?
