IR synch with Deluxe and XP

Has anybody actually got IR synch working with XP and a Deluxe.

I have loaded OS 3.1H3, SerlrComm Library, BeamSync made the settings in the Synch software on my laptop and it just doesn't work. The visor syncs with my phone and other visors. The phone and other laptops synch with my laptop (Dell Latitude 610).

Does it really work or do I go and buy a Palm.

Help please before I buy a Palm.
