Rechargeable Batteries with my Deluxe?
Hi there!!
I'm very confused!!
I read on the official handspring website (support.handspring.com, link at bottom of post) that it is advised that i should not use rechargeable batteries.
I've also read about people using rechargeable batteries with their deluxe.
Can I or can't I use rechargeable batteries??
Many thanx

I've been using NiMH rechargeables for well over a year in my VDx. The reason Handspring doesn't recommend them is because the hardware wasn't designed for them... plus, they don't want to have to support user issues regarding them.
If you decide to use rechargeables, NiMH is the way to go as they are a better technology than NiCad. You'll need to set the battery type to NiCad, however (OS 3.1 doesn't reference NiMH), by using the
. 7 shortcut to allow the proper battery "profile" to be used.

I wouldn't go any way other than with NiMh. In fact, I just upped the milliamps to 700 from 600mA with my latest set of AAA NiMh. I set my VDX to NiCad because it is the closest setting. Never had an issue.
Thanks for replying Mark!!
Call me stupid, but i don't know what you rmean by that shortcut. I tryed goin through the motion on the graffiti area on my palm, but nothing happened.
Any explaination would be great.
Thanx

I also used Rayovac renewable alkalines for a while, but now I stick to 700mAH NiMH batteries because can be recharched much more often.
I never had a problem with rechargables. They are the only reasonable solution for power users.

I am using GP750mAh w/ my visor deluxe. No problem at all. Each pair of AAA could last for 4-5 days (that innopocket flash plus really drained my batteries).

... I will use rechargeables from now on... much cheaper in the long run...
