Cool

Has anyone had experiences with this case and can tell me what they think of it? Can it protect against falls to the floor? <HR>The Future of Handspring Visor Protection
The ShockSuit SportCase enjoys the rare combination of lightweight material and drop resistant protection. The molded reinforced corners of the ShockSuit provide superior cushion against damage during inadvertant drops. The interior felt lined front and back rigid inserts also protect against twists and torques to your Handspring Visor/Visor Deluxe. With other features including; stylus clip for easy access, 2 piece belt-clip with quick push-button release, Hot Sync cable port, and state-of-the-art design, the ShockSuit SportCase provides the most complete protective case ever offered!

Thumbs down

I sent mine back the day it arrived.
a) it looks and feels cheap cheap cheap
b) the visor slips in from the top and just sort of rattles around inside.
c) the only slot in it is in the top -- if you want to use the IR, you have to remove the Visor. This confirms that it is actually the Palm Shocksuit, relabelled as Visor.
d) the stylus clip is cheesy and there are numerous reports that they break.
e) the pictures on the site look like the case is some sort of molded plastic plus rubber -- it's not, it's molded neoprene and the openings appear to have been cut by hand using an Xacto knife.

The one thing I liked about the case was the belt clip, but not enough to overcome the other deficiencies. (oh, and the logo was really nice, but who cares?)

I agree with just about everything Trew has said. I just ordered a shocksuit and received it today. I agree that it does not look like it's worth the $35+shipping that it costs you. My major reasoning for purchasing this particular item was to protect my investment. I don't really care that I can't use the IR port while it's in the case. I pretty much plan on taking it out of the case whenever I need to use it. I can see why the stylus holder is easily breakable, but I don't plan on holding a stylus there anyway. But, by using this case I'm getting some peace of mind. I'm fairly positive that even if this thing fell off of it's belt clip (which I don't see how because it's REALLY in there when it's clipped on) it would survive the fall. All in all I'm glad I made the purchase. If your still unsure I would still look elsewhere. The RhinoPack 2000 looks like a great case too and I'm sure many others will be able to rate just about any other case out there. Mine is just but one opinion! Good luck in your search...

Personally, I just received mine today, and I'm pretty pleased with it. It seems to protect my GVDx well, the Visor sits firmly inside the case, and seems professionally made. I only have a coupla complaints on it.

1)The release for the belt clip seems stiff. I expect this to require a gentle breaking-in period.

2)The previous posters are right that the IR port is covered. However, if you don't do much beaming, as I don't, I don't really view this as a problem.

3)Lint. The lining of the thing seems to attract lint. Not a big complaint, but something that chaps my rear.

Of course, this is just my opinion, I could b e wrong....

Post

I have had my Shock Suit since mid december and I love it. I had my Visor 5 minutes, and it dropped from mid chest. I was very happy I put my visor into the shocksuit 2 minutes after opening the box!

The shock suit has protected my visor well. I work in a busy pharmacy, and I am constantly banging into counters, shelves ect. and my visor looks brand new.

Regarding the stylis holder, It shows no signs of weakening yet. In fact I broke my pilot stylis, from a hard slam into a counter, so I think sylis holder will be with me for a while.

I agree that it is really made for a palm III, so there is some extra space in the case, but I found the fit tight, so my visor does not move around allot. It does attract alot of lint, as the inside is made of black velvet.A good cleaning with tape is needed from time to time.

Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps

I Agree. I like it a lot. What I did was cut the bottom corners off the foam insert to put into the case before I put in the Visor. The Visor fits great now and stays centered.

Thumbs up

I discovered that if I put my ConceptKitchen Cleaning cloth beneath the Visor, and placed between the sheets of paper that came with the cloth, it will hold the Visor in pretty firmly!
