I've dowloaded a couple of DBs and DOCs that get corrupted on my Visor. Anyone else have this problem?

The files I download are Palmbar (mobile db), San Francisco Giants (mobile DB) from http://www.travelite.org/handisland...iscoGiants.zip, and Billiards rules (DOC) from Tealpoint.com.

The files are mostly there, but many of the entries are chopped up. The DOC file ended up crashing CSpotRun, but I checked it under QExpress also, and the file is corrupted there also. However, Hemingway's A Clean, Well-Lighted Place is fine.

I'm HotSyncing from an Imac over USB.

Can you read these files fine? Any tips?

So I talked with HS support about this, and they suggested that I delete all my third party apps and re-install the DOCs and apps one at a time to see which _app_ is causing the problem!

This response seems like a load of bull to me. (But they answered the phone in about 3 minutes!)

Sorry Lucky, I just successfully hotsync'ed a 244kb .pdb file (Frankenstein) and the results were perfectly readable from RichReader.

I suspect that the notion of an errant 3rd party app may not be far off the mark; the other possibility is that whatever utility you're using to create these .pdb files is corrupting them, or possibly the Macintosh is adding some unrecognizable header information to the files during a download process.

Just some thoughts to consider.

Well, after their suggestion, I hard reset my palm, and installed the problem DOC first. Then I installed the reader, and it was still botched.

There may be a problem with what the iMac does to the .pdbs, but I'm trying to figure out a way to show they're OK on the Mac.

For what it's worth, I seem to be having the same problem. I've downloaded CSpotRun and can read .prc and .shtml files just fine, but all the .pdb files start ok and then turned garbled after the first page or two. I'm using a Mac Powerbook with OS 8.5.1. I'm hoping a OS upgrade might help. This is my first experience with ebooks, so I'm shooting in the dark and will be glad to see any solutions. I'm not at all familiar with any of these file formats. Can .pdb be translated to .prc?

I have used CSpotRun and always sync by USB, and have had no problems at all. I wonder if it might be an Apple-related problem...I have a Win98 system. (I'm now using ISilo Free; no problems now either.)
