If anyone is going in for major surgery you could ask the attending physician to drop it in before stiching you up (instead of a sponge of another medical instrument). That way it could irritate you for the rest of your life and you wouldn't even have to scratch your screen!
Is there a place where I can get a picture of the stock stylus. I can't imagine a thing that could get everyone so mad at a stylus.
Better yet, we'll all just send them to you
A weapon.
Billy,
Imagine that your deluxe stylus was a solid piece of black plastic with a seam running across the tip. Now imagine that seam scratching your Visor screen. My first Visor came with a standard stylus that was fine. I thought everybody complaining were being a little harsh. My second Visor had a stylus that actually scratched the Write Right I had on my screen. They were sneaky little things for people like me who had never used a PDA before.
Gotta go, Baby crying!
You're right BobbyMike, I can imagine that. The seam stuff just seems like really bad craftsmanship. That's terrible.
You could attach some feathers to the end and use it as a blow dart.
Mike STH,
How did you get it to stick in the tile ceiling? I just tried for 10 min and couldn't get it to stick. Mind you I used to be a champion pencil sticker in highschool. I think my prob is not enough weight, can't get a good rotation to distance ratio going...

Billy,
Sorry, no pictures, but the main problem with the stylus isn't how it looks, but the fact the it's made entirely out of plastic. The Palms had plastic tips with a metal body, which made all the difference. An all-plastic stylus has too much play, which reduces one's accuracy with Graffiti. My Graffiti strokes would register as incomplete (yielding, for instance, a "u" instead of an "o"), and often be interpreted as taps instead of actual letters. You wind up applying more pressure than you would with a metal stylus, and I think that's what's scratched so many screens. You can learn to get used to it if you apply less pressure, not more, to the silkscreen, but why get used to it when you can just get a metal replacement stylus?

Thanks Gameboy, it really makes sense to me. It just seems like a marketing scheme to sell you a pack of stylus. I totally understand why people hate them. I have trouble with grafti, mainly because my screen protector would sometimes pop up a little and somehow just screws everything up.
Good question Maltair ~ I'm 6'4" and the ceiling is only 8'...I was standing...Was also quite aggrevated at the time

OH NO! ....
I though it was an anal thermometer.
WELL... What did it read?

Here's a picture of the original stylus (below in black) and a green deluxe one (top)
kinda low res. I just made it with my webcam...
What if you dipped the tip in poison, put the stylus into a blowgun tube, and shot the design engineer responsible for putting the parting line of the plastic injection mold along the tip of the stylus. Thats just poor design due to ignorance of intended use. {in my opinion anyways
}

In that pic, it looks like the stylus is floating and the black one is its shadow

That's it Maltair!
The plastic stylus is the evil twin of the deluxe stylus, a dark shadow that enters under a cover of innocence and slowly (and painfully) shows its' true colors by making a shambles of your poor, unprotected screen!
(sorry, I've been ill)
Michael
I just bought a solo visor and it came with the stock stylus. It's very light I do admit but it's not as bad as some of the people described. I still wouldn't use it though.
