Thumbs up

Heya Folksies!

There's an article on CNet released today that says "For the week of April 15, Handspring had the top-selling personal digital assistant (PDA)"

Read the article here:

Ain't it cool!

The HandSpring Visor (Solo, regular or Deluxe?) outsold individual Palm units, put the combined volume of Palm units still outweighed the combined volume of HandSpring units sold in that week.

Very true. But the VDX and Solo grabbed a bit under 40% of the market, same as the Vx, IIIe and IIIXe .. I think this is EXTREMELY cool given the fact that Palm has a much more established name. Also, some of the comments regarding the retail outlets on here give much to be desired regarding knowledge on behalf of the sales reps...

It will be interesting to see if they keep that amount of the market or if it dwindles in the next few months.

Not to Visor bash (I think it is a great product) but with all the horror stories generated here and elsewhere about Handspring costumer service and online sales problems, it isn't surprizing there was built up demand for the Visor. I imagine people were waiting to actually get their hands on them (especially since there isn't an online price break like the Palm) so it is in fact cheaper to pick it up at Fry's.

Either way it will be interesting, now that both companies will be public, to see how the long term sales battle goes. I am sure it will be discussed to no end on these boards.
