-- Outlook Contact Category Sync (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=1661)

Question

I have added categories to my Visor to match the categories I use in my Outlook Contacts. When I sync, however, the category info seems to be ignored, and all of the Contacts that were added to the Visor come in as "unfiled".

Is there any way that the HotSync will port the category info to the Visor?

I'm sure happy to be asking "How do I use my Visor?" questions instead of wondering, "When will I get it!"

Set desktop overites handheld in the conduits and everything should transfer over. If that does not work reinstall the software and one of the options should be something to do with outlook categories.

I've used a Palm V before I got my Visor, so I don't know exactly what desktop software installs with Visor vs. what was already on my machine.
Palm desktop installation also installed Pocket Mirror to sync with Outlook. If it also installs with the Visor, then you're in good shape.
Find the Pocket Mirror program group and go to Pocket Mirror settings. For each conduit, you have a lot of flexibility over what you can modify.
Once of those things is how categories are handled, and you can choose for each conduit. If you get stuck, help is available and is really quite good.
For sure, if you are running Pocket Mirror, you have to ENABLE categories for the calendar conduit.
Hope this helps.

skesler is right. Go into Outlook then click the green Palm icon on the right side of the toolbar. Click on settings, then for each Outlook "---" line click Change and go to the miscellaneous tab. Select Map Handheld category to Outlook's "Categories" field and Choose Ok. Next time you sync it will put them over.
