On more than one occaision appointments that I set to repeat annually (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.) magically mutiply on the same day. I'm left with hundreds of duplicate (and indentical) entries on days where there are annually occurring appointments. Does anyone know how to prevent this? What about how to delete duplicate appointments in one fell swoop without having to remove each one by hand?

I had the same (I think...) problem with the floating events. I too was entering in birthdays, etc., and after much frustration, I discovered the key to my situation.

I was entering birthdays on calendar days that had already passed. For instance, I was enetering a February 28th birthday on the 2000 calendar even though it was actually June 2000. Enter the same birthday on the 2001 calendar ( a future date), and there is no problem.

Backup Buddy has a delete duplicate entries function that works for address book, todo, and datebook. Datebook 4.0c is a nice replacement for the built-in datebook that adds TONS of options and functionality. You can find both pieces of software at www.palmgear.com.

Hope this has been useful! Good Luck!
