True, but on the other hand the categories are there for a reason, and I don't think anyone's getting paid by the number of responses their posts generate.

Heck, the original post might not even have warrented the response it got if it had been posted in the right forum. Personally, I just don't see how "me buy palm iiic cause have shift key" could possibly be called "General Interest."

The board is called "General Visor". If he were ditching some other product, then it would be "Off Topic". I cannot believe I have to spell out everything. Oh yeah, that's right, half the country voted for Bush--DOH!<-- Now THAT's "Off Topic"!

It looks like we're all just ignorant marketdroids bent of chastising those who dare to challenge the Handspring theology. Remember, the Visor isn't just a consumer electronics device, it's a religion. And all heretics will be punished to the fullest extent of the VC Forum Rules. In this case, the maximum punishment is banishment to Off Topic, where trolls run free.

I was wondering why as of late I've had the impulse to hide under a bridge (not to mention all of these warts that appeared out of nowhere).

I think everyone's missing the real issue here. Should the words "easy", "linux", and "compatibility" ever be used in the same sentence, nevertheless as a compound phrase? ;P~~~

If you look at the names of all the boards and their descriptions, they are clearly spelled out. "Off Topic"'s description is "When it doesn't fit any where else." Since this thread (originally, at least) was about the Visor and wouldn't fit better in one of the other Visor-specific groups, it should go in General Visor. If it would have fit better in one of the other Visor groups, it should have gone there. If it has nothing to do whatsoever with Visor and has only to do with Palm, then it should go in PalmOS compatibles. If it has nothing to do with Visor OR Palm, it should go in "Off Topic".

Interestingly enough, if you had actually read my comments instead of jerking your knee, you would have noticed I actually thought "Palm OS Compatables" would have been a better place to move to topic. In other words, you actually agree with me.

LOL, I can always count on the forums to bring me a smile. As we don't have a "Visor vs. ____" forum, the original posting was fine in the general section. I think that not putting much into the message was a mistake, but such is life.

When I moved the thread here, at the time there were 8 on-topic posts and 8 off-topic posts (feel free to recount ). Since then, all posts have been on moving it here (except maybe Toby's ). There have been plenty of times where a Visor discussion has moved to off-topic after enough people drifted away from the original subject (screen protectors anyone?). Off-Topic shouldn't be seen as a punishing ground. I save that for User Group Announcements.

Everyone take a deep breath and exhale. If you post to General, there's going to be a chance that it gets moved. That's not punishment.
