-- solar panel (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=3706)
I posted this idea last year to some very positve feedback.
Can someone please design a solar panel that recharges the batteries in the visor. This idea is not only environmentaly sound, but it would save someone a ton of money and multiple trips to the store buying disposables. Perhaps a hinged cover like the Palm III series with solar cells built in.
Why dont you contact someone like Innogear about htis, they seem to like innovative ideas.
I wonder if a springboard sized panel would be big enough to do any good?
Just turn your visor upside down, or face the back towards the sun. Wouldn't add any footprint to the visor, and installation would be a snap!
Hmmm..sounds like a good way to fry your visor and possibly mess up the LCD screen. If anyone ever does come up with such a product, I hope it'll be a separate piece of hardware that connects to the visor via a wire so that visor could be placed in the shade while the solar cells are catching some rays.
Leaving the Visor out in the sun (rain, too, eh?) doesn't seem to be too great an option.
However, there seem to be a few standalone solar battery chargers that would do the trick, provided you don't mind handling the batteries between charging and use. Looks like nicads, primarily- didn't see any nimh aaa chargers yet (though 2 aa chargers avail at http://nimhbattery.com/icpg-04041_s...ery_charger.htm
, so can aaa be far behind?)
Can't speak for any of these options, but there do seem to be a few...

What about a kenetic (sp?) Springboard. I carry my Visor on my belt and if a Springboard could charge the batteries as I walked.....well....I would buy it!
