-- HotSync Problems with Apple G4 (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=9358)

Hi

I have a visor deluxe and since I've gotten my apple macintosh G4, I've never been able to hot sync it with the G4.

I have the USB Cradle and I've tried installed both the original (that came with my visor) and the latest Palm Desktop software from Palm and there just doesn't seem to been any communication between the visor
and the mac when I hit the sync button on the cradle.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

thanks!

mark.

Make suer you are using Mac OS 9.04, the latest Desktop Software from Handspring, and the latest hotsync manager from the Handspring web site:

HotSync Problems with Apple G4

Homer

thanks for your response.

I've installed the latest version of Palm desktop and Hotsync updater from the handspring site and now I'm able to get it to start to hotsync but it always comes back with: "Hot Sync was Interrupted. some of your data was NOT backed up. For details, click 'View Log' below."

I have my cradle hooked to the USB connection on my keyboard. I wonder if that's the problem or if it is conflicting with my USB CD burner?

hmm. . .

mark.

some troubleshhoting questions and tips...

what does the log entry say?

have you installed any conduits other than the original palm os ones (e.g.: avantgo, vindigo, quicksheet, and c.)?

some basic, good to do anyway tips:

increase the memory allocation for the conduit manager.

i've read, i think on this board, somewhere, that using the keyboard usb port is risky. get a hub.

also, try a soft reset while in the cradle... it always works for me when i'm having sync time-out problems.

for what it's worth, i'm still using macos8.5 and palmdesktop2.1 and hotsyncmanager2.1 and all is well, with the occasional glitch, but i imagine your new g4 has 9.0.4 installed, so i agree with homer, do the upgrade from handspring.
