-- iMac HotSync issues (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2041)
The iMac DV that I just unboxed has Palm Desktop 2.5 installed, a good idea I thought but have been unsuccessful in doing a HotSync. The first attempt resulted in a message that I needed new USB drivers but has since not been repeated.
My Visor setup disk has version PalmDeskto 2.1. I previouly was able to HotSync my Visor with two other Mac G3s (non- iMac) after performing the standard install, but have not been been able to connect on the iMac. When going into the HotSync Manager setup menu in version 2.5 and try to select the USB setup its not there, as it is in version 2.1 which I got with my Visor. It appears that I've installed both version of Palm Desktop and there maybe extension conflicks. I don't understand why the iMac HotSync setup doesn't have the USB option since its without any serial ports? Is this some kind of 3Com Palm Pilot priority software issue that is unique to the new iMac which disables the Visor from use these iMacs, I hope not.
Any possible solutions, suggestions or similar occurances would be apprepicated.

The Palm Desktop that came with the iMac should not be used. Trash that version and use only the one that was provided with the Visor. The OS that the Visor uses is a little different which would probably account for the problems you've been experiencing.

To echo and amplify JAK's advice, be sure to *completely* uninstall all versions of the Palm Desktop from your iMac before doing a fresh install of the Handspring version. Make sure no extensions or control panels are hanging around after the uninstall, especially if you use the automated uninstall that comes with the Palm installer.
