Eventual EDGE battery functional life??

How long can we expect a rechargable battery to last??

I have a couple of HS Edge(s) and was wondering how long I can expect the (apparently non-replacable) rechargable batteries to function and take a charge.

Can these last several years?

Or do the batteries really end up costing $250 bucks a year and you get the PDA with them free?

Typically, if you don't have problems in the first few months, they
should last several years.
