-- Anyone else have this happen after Update patch? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=3080)
Don't know if this is related because I just applied THE PATCH to a virgin VDX (that needed the memory according to the installer and verified by the ROM date shortcut (.6)
Anyway, what happens is that occassionly now (has happened twice at seemingly random times) I'll be pecking away on the screen and it will power itself off. As I said, happened twice. Anyone else? Or might this just be a device problem with mine? Probably going to go back to CompUSA and exchange it anyway for a hopefully more current vintage machine. Thanks!
Mike
UPDATE 7/26:
I just exchanged the one I had bought over the weekend for a new one. The orig. had a week 15 build date via the serial number, the new one had week 24 (pretty current as we are in week 30 right now)
The patch I just installed on the new one did not apply the memory portion. This simply confirms the problem is affecting the Jan-May 2000 VDX's.
I take issue with HS's notice, to wit:
"Only a limited number of Visor Deluxe handhelds shipped between the period of January 2000 to June 2000 may be affected with this faulty chip."
Either we are all unlucky here or ALL such units have the problem. Comments?
All,
I have had the same problem after installing the patch. My Visor gets a fatal error after pressing the hotsync button and resets itself (I run shield which automatically does a warm reset after a fatal error. ) The second time I hotsync, it works.
Does Handspring know about the problem?
Any solutions?
TIA!
Jerry G.
