For some reason, the only color I'm getting is the blue menu bars.... I downloaded the latest copy.. 3.x from avant go's site... I had to download the macintosh version.. Is the windows prc file in color? can someone send it to me if it is?? [email protected]

MikeD, AvantGo does support colour, but the AvantGo channels must be made in colour for you to get colour. Most websites don't - for example, CNET and ZDNET are still in monochrome.

Try PDABUzz and Visorcentral - although the logos are still in black and white, there are sometimes colour pictures there - for example, try clicking on "News" in the Visorcentral channel and then looking for the announcement of the Prism and Platinum - they have a colour picture of the Prism there.

If you already used AvantGo with your Visor Deluxe, you have to uninstall and reinstall on both your handheld and your desktop (or at least I did). A good channel to test color with is MapBlast (there is a drop-down list to select color, greyscale, or black&white maps)

This frustrated me to no end, but I finally got it figured out. What you need to do is clear out your backup folder (on your PC), delete AvantGo and MobileLink from your Prism, and then HotSync once or twice until all your applications are backed up. Then, go through your backup folder and delete anything that looks like it's a backup of a system or preferences file, hard reset your Prism, and HotSync again to restore all your apps. Finally reinstall AvantGo, and the channels should appear in color. A good test channel is USAToday, as their header graphic is blue, and their Dow Jones charts are in color. You should also notice that the 16 grays of some other graphics (like those on the ZDNet channel) are emulated very nicely and appear very sharp. I hope this saves someone the hours of frustration I went through trying to get this to work. Now where's my color OmniSky module?

I may have narrowed it down even further. For me, I just had to uninstall Avantgo desktop client and mobile link from my pc with "add/remove programs" in "control panel". Also I deleted Avantgo, mobile link AND libmal from my Prism. I then rebooted my pc. Then I re-installed the AvantGo client from scratch, hotsync'd to install the three files to my Prism, and finally, hotsync'd again to reload all my channels. WOW! What a difference! Not all channels use color, but the ones that do look amazing!

Good luck everyone, and please don't forget to hotsync first to have a recent backup AND copy that backup folder to a temporary location, just in case!

Good Color channel

If you want a good site to use for a color AvantGo channel, use Weather Underground. Bring up your city and then click the "Print this page" link. I use the one for Houston and it looks great. Just make a custom channel for your city.

After following the steps posted above, I now have color AvantGo ... WOO HOO.

I subscribe to 15-20 channels, and the one that looks the best in color is DrinkBoy.

Deleting Avantgo and MobileLink on my Prism didn't do it for me, either. However, I was able to get color in Avantgo without doing a hard reset.

After deleting the two apps from my Prism, I turned off the MobileLink Conduit in the HotSync Manager. Then I went into the Backup directory on my PC and deleted all the files starting with "AV", plus libmal.prc and MobileLink.prc.

I also (and I think this was the key) deleted several files in the Backup directory which started with "MBLN": MBlnDeviceInfo.PDB, MBlnProfile.PDB, and MBlnUserConfig.PDB. Then I deleted the databases with the same names on my Prism.

After reinstalling Avantgo on my Prism, I turned the MobileLink conduit back on and HotSynced. Now I have color.

I followed Leshrac suggestion and it worked. The VisorCentral banner is in color, USA Today chart and other stuff.

For the future I wish Avantgo had a preference setting for color.

Which version is on your Prism? Is the title bar on each channel/web page in color, with the content in b/w?
