-- Prism Silver Case (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=14707)

ArmStation, a Japanese company, has built a silver case for Visor Prism. MyPalmBoy
will carry the case when it is available. Pricing is currently unkown.

Lightbulb Prism in Silver

Marcus,
This Visor looks pretty cool with the silver case!!

Cool Sweeeeet!

That's EXTREMELY cool. I will have to get that when it becomes available.

Question Neat Idea. How much $$$

In my opinion, silver would be cooler than "cobalt blue." There was a guy doing something like this for the Palm III series (excludes IIIc). It looked really cool until you saw the $200 (maybe more) price tag. So long as the silver Prism case isn't an arm and a leg, I'll get one. I'm surprised we haven't seen more people coming out with their own cases for the Handspring units.

It does look cool. But how will this affect the warenty?

Warrenty

I'm guessing that as long as the case isn't cracked, it won't void the warrenty. Should be fine

But it looks like you have to open the ousing on the prism to put this one on. I have read that if you do this, your warrenty is void.

Yuck.

That looks so cheap. Like something you'd get in a 99c store, with candy inside.

It looks to me like the "chrome" parts of model cars I used to put together. To get the glue to stick to them, you had to sand the shine off the contact areas, down to the underlying (primary-colored) plastic.

ACK!

Ack.

I'm having a mixed review. I think IRL it may look awesome, but either the photos don't do it justice, or it's truly ugly.

It looks like that silver-painted plastic so commonly affiliated with HotWheels cars. They should have gone with a more brushed finish, similar to that of the Visor Edge's, or better yet, learn something from Apple and give it an industrial-strength finish to it, not something that'll smear whenever you touch it.

Either way, the silver will scream "I'm the PIMP-DADDY of pocket organizers!"

That thing looks amazingly similar to Ultraman's Visor. I'm pretty sure he voided his warranty.

Hmm..I think that shiny case is going to show scratches all too easily. Instead of Chrome, they should have gone with brushed aluminum, similar to the Edge.

Fingerprint magnet

Unfortunately, just like my Nokia 8860, this thing will attract fingerprints like women to a clearance sale. When we go to show it off to our friends, it'll be prefaced by five minutes of buffing with your pulled-out shirt so that it doesn't look like you just ate off of it.

A flat, brushed look would possess the "tough, but cool" qualities without the need to windex.

The guy who was going that was Dave and Personally I think his look 50 Times better.

Thumbs down

Too shiny for me. I prefer the 'brushed aluminum' of the Palm V/m50x to the shiny chrome (although I'm not sure how good even brushed aluminum will look on the bigger, more blocky Prism...it's better suited to the slimmer models)

I agree. Is this case made of metal or is it just plastic? Shiny chrome=cheesy IMO. But I guess that it is better then a gold cover.

um, isn't handspring gonna sue their butts off? they can't make a product and put the handspring logo on it without their permission.

weird.

is it metal, or just chrome-ish paint? if it's metal, you can do the brushed effect yourself. can everyone say 'dremel'?

I agree w/the posters coming down on this side of the equation. Also cost will be a factor, of course. Still, even as is, I think it's light years better than the smeary Cobalt Blue HS went with. I always thought it was a classic shoot-yourself-in-the-foot decision to put the Prism out in only this 1 color, instead of giving consumers at least the choices of the VDX. Even just "Platinum Gray" would have been better, IMHO.

My Prism is pretty scratched up, and I'd still rather have my scratched cobalt-blue-and-shiny-exposed-navy-blue to pimp-chrome.

Opaque primary colors and pastels would be a better choice, if they want to distinguish it from the VDx.
