Question

I love the fact that I can sync e-mails into my Visor so I can read them on the train, but I have one little problem that I hope can be easily fixed.

I notice that if I delete an e-mail from my visor, Outlook Express will also delete that same e-mail when I hotsync. Is there any way to stop this from happening? I would like to be able to manualy delete e-mail from Outlook Express even if I have deleted it on my visor.

-Thanks in advance

If you are using the mail program that came with the Visor, you can set it to only download unread mail. Anything deleted off of the Visor will not be deleted in Outlook Express in this mode.

If the particular email was not downloaded to the Visor, how can you delete it from the Visor?

Any email that is deleted from the standard Palm OS mail, will be permanently deleted (without warning) from Outlook, period.

But wait...

The mail conduit follows the same "rules" as the other data conduits.

If you set the action to "synchornize the files" then, yes, if you delete the message from the Visor, it'll be deleted from the desktop mail client. That's no different than the DateBook, Address Book, ToDo and MemoPad-- that is what the Palm "sync" action does.

But if you change the action to "desktop overwrites handheld", it doesn't matter what message is delete in the internal Mail app; the contents will be duplicated (not sync'ed) *from* the desktop mail client. You might want to try this action for Mail ('tis what I use so I don't inadvertantly nuke messages from the desktop and the desktop acts as the master storage for my mail messages).

Thumbs up

Thats what I was looking for. I want to have the desktop be my master storage for my e-mail. Thanks...I will give it a try.
