-- Are orders really backlogged? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=138)
I haven't yet ordered a Visor, but was planning to (waiting for some more tangible evidence that the product was shipping soon... i.e. web update, definite shipping date, etc.) and I just called Handspring to check the projected arrival date of the products. The CSR told me if I ordered one today, that it would "arrive at my home the first week of november." My question is...have the orders been so overwhelming that my Visor would be delayed another 3 weeks? And if so, should I go ahead and place an order because further waiting would only delay it further? I was under the impression that Handspring would have forseen a large order and would have made more products for the first load to be shipped....any thoughts?
There is a great deal of speculation over how many units have been sold and the cause of the shipping delays.
If you want a Visor- I'd suggest you order one and hope they can fill the order in a resonable time. If you don't have some type of PDA now, you won't be hurt by waiting another 3 weeks.
Also, remember this is a start up company that is not public and therefore has not had large amounts of capital infusion to smooth over the rough edges. Customer service is being handled by a contract party. If the Visor had been exactly the same as the Palm units there would have been less demand. But, since ordering and introduction of a vastly different device, relative to Palm, occurred on the same day...glitches should be expected. If the unit had been introduced on the net about a month before ordering they would have had a better handle on everything.
Let's give'em a brake! Remember, Hawkins and Dubinsky are still human.
