Another Thing to consider...

The Palm M series all use a 25% smaller screen, and although it has the same resolution, and may appear sharper. Its small, i've seen them in the store, and it really makes you squint. I'de prefer a bit of a larger screen. I have to admit though, Palm really did impress me with their features and price point.

This only applies to the M10Xs. The M50Xs are a totally different matter.

Red face

I'm trying to wait for next Edge color, but the M505 looks so attractive with the great form factor and those tiny little SD cards. I am not too crazy for that Edge Springboard adaptor but I could tolerate it.
Viewing my Prism outdoors sucks and I wonder if palm got smart and put a reflective display in the M505? If it does it will kill the Prism.

We still haven't held a M505

Are we not hitting the panic button a little quick? If there is a group of handheld computer users that should be wary of companies telling us how great their product before they actually are ready to release it, it should be us Visor users. Maybe Palm has a great product at a great price point, but there could also be a good reason Palm is having to sell this thing cheeper than expected. I hope Palm hasn't taken a chapter out of Innogear's handbook and promised something early that the may not be able to actually delive on time. Handspring may now be forced to joint in on the promise before you can deliver craze, but I hope they will be patient. Handspring does not need to fall victom to promising vaporware--and for now, the M505 is exactly that, vaporware!

Given the fact that Palm has never dropped the ball on a ship date, I can't think of any logical reason to assume that Palm is selling the m505 at an affordable price other than having learned its lesson with the IIIc. I had an email exchange with a higher-up at InnoGear who explained in detail the problems behind the SixPak debacle, and they're not the sort of problems that a company the size of Palm (both in capital and human resources) would have to deal with. And unlike Microsoft, Palm doesn't have to deal with coordinating its software development with hardware manufacturers -- at least for its own handhelds.

I ordered my first Visor in mid-September of '99 and received it in late December, which qualifies more than any new Palm release as vaporware in my book.
