Unhappy

I've got a bad problem with my Visor (standard, 2 MB). On Tuesday, I had to press the power button 3-4 times to get it to turn on, but today (Wednesday), it took 10-12 times to get a response. Same for turning it off. I can off-and-lock from the software and it works fine. Any ideas? I've had my Visor for about 8 months now,so I'm way out of warranty and I bought it from the HS store and received it the day before it went retail.

Thanks for anything you can suggest.

I had a similar problem with my first Visor. There was actually a piece of something rattling around in there. Eventually it got stuck under the power button and I, too, had to press hard to get it to power off or on. Of course I didn't know this until I opened the case.

Trying to avoid evidence of tampering and thus voiding the warranty, I undid the four screws on the back. Once they're out it comes apart pretty easily. I unscrewed the button assembly and there it was: a small chip of GLASS under the power button. I removed it put it back together and it's been fine since then.

Until I cracked the screen.

Got a replacement for 85 bucks!

I had the same problem with my BVD a few months ago. After working with Handspring Tech Support and not being able to resolve the issue, they shipped out a replacement unit.

Mine had worked fine for 4 or 5 months prior to this problem.

Well, the warranty is for 12 months, so you still got 4 months left...Time to call HS for a replacement!

Thanks!

First off, I'd like to thank fixitgal for her suggestion.

I've received a new Visor and sent my old one back. It was very painless and was even prepaid by Handspring. My new one has no problems whatsoever, but the hard case was quite a bit more loose.

Overall, I'm pleased with the exchange. I hadn't gotten too attached to my old one.
