-- Yada Yada Wireless Modem (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=8984)

Posted by Bret Snyder on 11-01-2000 06:09 PM:

I just received my modem from YadaYada. Unfortunately I had them send it to my house.

I guess I will have to try and leave work early so I can go home and play.

Umm...that's only true if you throw away the modem once you get it.[/B]

Or can't use it since you're not in their coverage area.

What it REALLY amounts to is that people who don't want wireless can't get their OS upgraded,

I fail to see how that's a Good Thing from a customer service perspective.

but if they wanted to get a wireless modem anyway (Minstrel S or Glenayre @ctivelink), they can exchange their VDX for a new one with OS3.5 for free.

It seems to me that if they can do that, there's nothing really preventing them from charging a nominal fee for people who want to upgrade but can't due to the lack of wireless service. If the additional rumor about flash upgradeability turns out to be true, that's just adding insult to injury.

pusfarm: You're welcome. I was just making sure since Verizon's coverage looked too good to be true for me.

Unhappy Any Differences

I have been looking at Yada Yada and Omnisky. Both seem to have coverage for where I live and work (although their maps don't look like I would be covered). I am wondereing if this coverage is slower if it is in an outlying but still covered area.

Secondly, other than coverage areas (and I truly hope that these increase soon) what are the differences between Yada Yada and Omnisky. As I understand it, they both use the Minstrel S modem, but are there other differences.

Thank You
