-- IrDA Hotsync too slow on iMac (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=13862)
I have been IrDA Hotsyncing to my iMac from a Prism, but it is now unbearably slow, particularly when it is initiating and checking the user name. Also, the process spends 10 minutes at the eyemodule conduit, which I have set as "Do Nothing." The whole process can take about an hour, although it takes about 3 minutes on my cradle at work.
Any ways to speed this up?
Thanks,
Ken
Try these..
1. Move the visor back and forth from the IRDA port. Sometimes being too close can be a problem.
2. Turn off and remove the backup conduit. Removing the backup folder completely will speed up the intial delay. This is tru for regualr USB also.
3. Turn off other Serial/USB ports/Processes/Extensions. Also Try turning off Appletalk during the IR sync.
Finally, IR IS is slower than USB - it is a packetized data transfer and if the data is large you can end up with large delays.
Bye
