Alright..I gotta get this straight. The omnisky momdem uses Cell towers right? Why would any place now a days have bad coverage? (I havent ordered my modem & service yet) but omniskys website covers my area (Near Dayton, Ohio) and all around, so do you think the coverage would be nice for me?
Thanks,
-Brian

Cell phone service uses a different technology (CDMA, GSM, etc.) while Omnisky uses a separate technology called CDPD. Just because you have good cell phone coverage doesn't mean you have good CDPD coverage. CDPD is an old technology that is generally available only in major metropolitan areas and surrounding suburbs -- and sometimes, not even there (for example, Atlanta has no CDPD coverage at all). It does not have nearly as good coverage as most cell phones anywhere. Still, if it works in the places you're going to be, it's great!! I have Omnisky on both a Palm V and a Visor Prism and love it. But I live in New York City and mostly travel in the Northeastern corridor where coverage is generally excellent.
I'd suggest posting to the Omnisky group on egroups (www.egroups.com/group/omnisky) and asking others what the coverage is like where you are. Sometimes these maps show good coverage -- but those actually using it will tell you otherwise!!
I hope this helps...
